Life Planning

One of the difficult truths of aging is that a time may come when a person must depend on others to take care of their affairs. As physical or mental capabilities diminish, many elders may no longer be able to make decisions for themselves or follow through with those decisions. There can be enormous problems at this point in trying to get business affairs or personal care decisions accomplished, and also in handling them the way the elder would wish. Some of these difficulties may be lessened or prevented by planning ahead and anticipating that day when a person might not be able to tell others what he or she wants. By using some life planning documents, a person can help others to understand their values and wishes so that if the time comes, others can act for that person.

Our firm provides counsel and advice on the preparation of life planning documents tailored to the specific circumstances of each client. Typical life planning documents would include a financial power of attorney, living will, health care power of attorney, and a living trust.
